Planting Seeds of Self Care - Why Spring Is The Ideal Time Of Year To Set Goals

While the new year often comes with pressure to set resolutions and reinvent ourselves overnight, spring offers something much more sustainable. It’s actually the most natural time to set goals - because everything around us is already doing just that.

Nature starts to bloom, and the warmer, longer days boost our energy and motivation levels. We naturally feel aligned with the opportunity to begin again, because spring is the season of growth.

Instead of pushing for change in the dead of winter, spring allows us to flow with a more organic rhythm - one that encourages us to plant seeds slowly, nurture them, and consistently show up.

Self care doesn’t have to be overwhelming or “all or nothing”. In fact, the most sustainable routines often start small - like seeds.

Here are a few tangible ways to lean into the energy of spring, set goals, and build

nourishing routines:

1. Start with intention, not pressure

Instead of asking “What should I be doing?”, try asking “How do I want to feel?”

Grounded? Energized? Supported? Let that feeling guide your choices.

2. Choose 1–2 tangible goals

Spring is about planting, not rushing the process. Choose one or two simple

practices that excite you, and are realistic to commit to.

This might look like:

  • 10 minutes of morning movement or stretching

  • Stepping outside for fresh air daily on your lunch break

  • Drinking water before your morning coffee

Small, consistent actions create momentum without that feeling of burnout.

3. Pair new goals with existing habits

Attach your new routine to something you already do - this makes it much easier

to integrate and sustain over time. For example: pairing a few deep breaths before checking your phone, or a short stretch after brushing your teeth.

4. Create space - physically and mentally

Spring cleaning isn’t just about your home - it’s something you can practice within, too. Clearing your physical space and taking time to journal or verbalize your thoughts, letting them land somewhere outside your mind, can create a sense of clarity and calm. From that place, it becomes much easier to stay aligned with your goals and move forward with intention.

5. Let it be imperfect

Growth isn’t linear, and neither is self-care. Some days will feel more aligned than others. That’s okay. In nature, not every seed blooms at the same time. The goal isn’t perfection - it’s patience, consistency, and trust.

Let’s lean into that spring energy and find the tools that make us feel our best!

Start small. Stay soft. Trust what’s growing.
